A class action is a type of lawsuit where a group of people, collectively through a few individual representatives, brings claims. This type of lawsuit allows a large number of people whose individual claims may be so small as to not make a lawsuit economically feasible, possible against large corporations.
Even though the individual damages to each person may be small, the illicit gain by the corporation can amount to millions, sometimes billions, of dollars. Class Actions are complex cases involving specific and detailed rules of procedure and law.
